Lodoco Information
Lodoco (Colchicine Extended Release) is a prescription anti-inflammatory cardiovascular drug used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, coronary revascularisation and cardiovascular death in adults with established atherosclerotic disease or with multiple risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Colchicine belongs to the class of medications called anti-gout agents. This medication works by decreasing inflammation in the arteries. Lodoco is not a pain medication and should not be taken to relieve pain.

Lodoco Possible side effects

The common side effects of Lodoco may include diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting.

Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Body aches, fever, chills, flu symptoms;
• Easy bruising;
• Feeling weak or tired;
• Muscle pain or weakness;
• Numbness or tingly feeling in your fingers or toes;
• Pale or gray appearance of your lips, tongue, or hands;
• Severe vomiting or diarrhea;
• Unusual bleeding

Seek emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction such as difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Lodoco Precautions

Do not use Lodoco if you are allergic to Colchicine. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctors about your medical history and if you take Digoxin or other cholesterol-lowering medications, or if you have:
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease

Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking Colchicine. There may be a drug interaction between Colchicine and other medications especially if you have liver to kidney disease. These medications include clarithromycin or telithromycin, cyclosporine, itraconazole, HIV or AIDs medications, etc. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
