Periostat is an enzyme suppressor used along with dental procedures in the treatment of adult periodontitis.

Periostat Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. PERIOSTAT MAY BE TAKEN WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. TAKE PERIOSTAT with a full glass (8 oz./240 ml) of water. DO NOT LIE DOWN for 30 minutes after taking this medicine. DO NOT PERIOSTAT CONTAINING aluminum, calcium, magnesium, bismuth subsalicylate, sucralfate, or iron within 1 to 2 hours before or 2 to 3 hours after taking this medicine. Some examples include antacids, iron supplements, vitamins/minerals, quinapril, and didanosine.
